can you hear the trees whispering? do you remember what they're telling you?

about the webmaster

Hi, hello, I am ChangelingEyes -- a butch lesbian in their mid-twenties that uses It/They/She pronouns.

You can call us Changeling (or Eddie, if you'd like!); identity is somewhat hard to pin down but interests run deep! I like weird horror and esoteric fiction and also TTRPG actual play shows. Our favorite animal is the Armadillo and I have a growing interest in Bugs and Birds. I enjoy research and notetaking, as well as a variety of arts and crafts such as Knitting, Sculpture, and Bookbinding. Some of our favorite music genres are: Metal, Punk, Ska, Folk, and Rock.

I do a lot of reading, which is mostly nonfiction. Some of my favorite topics include Mad/Disability Studies, LGBTQ History, and Biology. I'm very fond of essay anthologies and field guides in particular.

I am neuroatypical! I have been diagnosed as Autistic, and in addition to that, we often favor the word "BRAINWEIRD", even though it seemingly fell out of wider use on the internet at some point. I enjoy the vagueness of it, the way it describes only as much or as little as I am willing to expand upon. A little glimpse into what it means to me is: we have odd and somewhat fleeting beliefs, are something of a wild animal pretending very badly to be human, and overall fit very strangely inside our brain and body and even stranger in the public sphere as a whole. You'll often find deeper elaborations in a variety of my essays and analyses scattered throughout the site. The body I occupy is also riddled with well over a decade's worth of Chronic Pain and a small multitude of Chronic Illnesses.

Personal websites are very fun to me because they are not Conversational in the way Social Media tends to be, and that allows us to type in the way that comes natural -- which tends to mean being long-winded and over-specific in a kind of monologuing way. We are notorious for being Weird to talk to IRL! Not only are the social skills required for such a task severely lacking, but I also have a difficult time finding words and getting them out of our mouth, so our verbal speech tends to be very Cluttered and Disorganized and oftentimes will stall out completely. People tend to find this odd, but I think it's fine. I do better at text conversations than I do at verbal ones, but we're still not a very social or conversational person; I just don't prefer it! It's fun to have a space where thoughts, writing, and interests can be shared and engaged with without having to juggle the executive function necessary for actual interaction.
